The movie gives what fans want right from the beginning: Sub-Zero vs. Scorpion. Only it's when they were known as Bi-Han and Hanzo.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lewis Tan gave details about Cole Young. “He’s kind of a failed MMA fighter who was a champion, who believed in himself, who had a lot of hope in his career. And it all went down the drain,” he said. “It’s an interesting starting point for a hero, and I think that, along with the journey of ‘Mortal Kombat’ and Cole discovering where he comes from, you are introduced to all these other iconic characters and elements that everyone loves very much. ”
Directed by Simon McQuoid, the film also features the characters Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Jax Briggs (Mehcad Brooks), Mileena (Sisi Stringer), Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Kano (Josh Lawson), Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), and Shang Tsung (Chin Han). The premiere is scheduled for April 2021.
This is not the first live-action feature film from ‘Mortal Kombat’. The electronic game – which was developed in 1992 – won a film adaptation directed by Paul Anderson in 1995 and another commanded by John R. Leonetti in 1997.
