‘Ayurveda’ departments to be opened in new 19 AIIMS

New Delhi, Nov 5 (TGS) Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik has announced that Ayurveda Departments will be opened in the new 19 AIIMS.

He said, work is already on to start Ayurveda Departments in hundred  ESIC hospitals under Ministry of Labour.

Further, approval has been received from Home Ministry to open Ayurveda Deparments in seven hospitals of BSF and other Para military forces.

Greatest challenge before media in free society is to retain its credibility: Jaitley

New Delhi, Nov 16 (TGS) Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Friday that greatest challenge before media in a free society is that how it retains its credibility. He said that multiple choices available today mean that every political viewpoint finds space in media.

The Minister was speaking after conferring National Awards for Excellence in Journalism – 2018 here on the occasion of National Press Day celebrations. He presented the Raja Ram Mohan Roy award for excellence in journalism to Mr N Ram, eminent journalist and chairman of the Hindu publishing Group.

‘If emergency was ever to be reimposed, it would collapse for the simple reason, that one of the strength of the emergency was Press censorship and technology doesn’t permit a press censorship today,’ he said.

“Nobody can now complain that their free speech are in danger due to multiple choices,’ Mr Jaitley said.

Press Council of India Chairman Justice Chandramauli Kumar, members of the Press Council, and distinguished journalists were present on the occasion.

‘Wait for some time, don’t give pressure’: Kerala Minister reacts to Trupti visit to Sabarimala

Kochi, Nov 16 (TGS) Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadakampilly Surendran asked to ‘wait for some time and not to give pressure’ on Bhumatha Brigade Founder and Activist Trupti Desai visit to Sabarimala, violating all century old traditions following the Supreme Court order.

Earlier Ms Desai was blocked by hundreds of protesters at Kochi Airport.

When UNI sought the Minister’s reaction over phone on the protests at the Airport, he said ‘Wait for Some time…. Don’t be in haste’.

Mr Surendran had earlier stated that no activists will be allowed to the temple and also ruled out giving protection to them.

Kerala Police to deploy 15,259 police personnel for Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 16 (TGS) Kerala Police will deploy 15,259 police personnel in four stages during the upcoming Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season at Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala.

Top officials including DIGs and Additional DGPs will monitor security arrangements in Sabarimala which has been divided into six zones.

Kerala DGP Loknath Behra who reached Sabarimala this afternoon attended a meeting of top police officials and finalised the security arrangements.

In addition, 55 officials in the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), 113 DYSPs, 359 Inspectors, 1,450 SIs, 60 women officials in the rank of CI and SI, and 860 civil police officers will be in duty.

During the first stage between November 15 and 30, about 3,450 including 230 women police personnel, 349 SIs, 82 CIs, 24 DYSPs will be deployed.

In the second stage, between November 30 and December 14, about 3,400 including 230 women police personnel, 312 SIs, 92 CIs, 36 DYSPs, will be deployed.

In the third stage between December 14 and 29, nearly 4,026 including 230 women police personnel, 389 SIs, 90 CIs, 29 DYSPs will be in duty.

In the fourth stage, between December 29 and January 16, as many as 4,383 including 230 women police personnel, 400 SIs, 95 CIs, 34 DYSPs will be deputed.

In addition, a 20-member commando unit led by a SI will be in Sannidanam another unit in Pampa to help the police force.

Another platoon of Thunderbolt will station at Maniyar to deal any emergency situation during the festival season.
A bomb disposal squad comprising 234 members would be operational in Pampa and Sannidanam.

Two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and two units of NDRF will also be in duty in and around Sabarimala during the season.

A Karnataka women police team comprising an Inspector, two SIs and 30 women civil police officers also reached Sabarimala as part of the security arrangements.

South Zone ADGP Anil Kanth will be chief coordinator, ADGP S Anandkrishnan coordinator, IG Manoj Abraham joint coordinator, during the season.
