Chelsea win last bid in eyes of new owner

In the first game after the announcement of the purchase by the consortium led by the American Todd Boehly, Chelsea drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton today (7). The new owner was at Stamford Bridge and closely followed the reaction of the visitors, who equalized at the last minute, after Lukaku had scored both goals for the Blues in the 36th round of the Premier League.

After a first half with possession, but giving the visitors the counterattack, the home team came back in full force in the second half. In the final leg, Lukaku scored twice. The first, a penalty in the 10th minute. The second, hitting from outside the area after a mistake by Wolves in the exit of the ball. However, Trincao, at 33, decreased for the visitors. At 51, Coady left everything the same.

The triumph keeps Chelsea in third with 67 points. The team from the English countryside occupies the eighth place, with 50 points. The two clubs enter the field on Wednesday (11). Blues visit Leeds, Wolves welcome Manchester City

Chelsea’s new owner Boehly drew attention for his reactions at Stamford Bridge. He celebrated a goal for the team in the first half, but was frustrated afterwards, with the disqualification for an offside recorded in VAR.

In the second half, he also stood up and repeated the applause in the two goals scored by Lukaku.

The announcement of the purchase was made yesterday (6). The American, who is also a partner of the LA Dodgers baseball team, will complete the transaction by the end of the month, which is worth around 2.5 billion pounds. another 1.75 billion pounds (approximately R$11 billion) should be invested in improvements to the club.

warm start

The early stage of the game did not have many dangerous moves. The capital team was better and controlled the ball, but gave space to the visitors, who explored the counterattack.

VAR cancels goal

In a corner kick in the 37th minute, Thiago Silva deflected his head on the post and Rudiger punctured. The ball touched Lukaku’s knee and it was left for Loftus-Cheek to send it into the net. The player, however, was offside, and the video referee disallowed the goal. The bid took about three minutes to analyze, a very long time by European standards.

Wolverhampton bets on counterattack

In the minutes before the break, Wolves were threatened twice, in two counterattacks, both on the left. In the first, Pedro Neto advanced, passed the defense and kicked. Mendy palmed and Dendoncker sent over. Then he ran to the opponent’s area, but couldn’t finish.

VAR appears again to take the penalty

In a move almost to the bottom line, at 7 of the second half, Saiss knocked Lukaku down. Nothing was scored on the field. However, the video referee requested review, and the penalty was awarded. Lukaku kicked on one side, the goalkeeper fell to the other, and the Belgian striker opened the scoring, at 10.

Lukaku does the second

Two minutes after making the first one, Lukaku hit the net again. Pulisic took advantage of Wolverhampton’s wrong ball out and rolled to Lukaku, who dropped the bomb from outside the area to score again.

Crack decreases and almost equalizes

The player who replaced Rúben Neves, in the 31st minute of the final stage, changed the face of Wolves. With only two minutes on the field, he brought from the right to the middle and scored a great goal in the angle, without giving Mendy chances.

At 39, Trincao had the chance to tie. After dribbling Thiago Silva, he kicked it into the goal, but the ball slipped on Mendy and went out to a corner.

Draw at 51 minutes

When victory already seemed certain for Chelesa, Wolverhampton looked for a draw. Chiquinho crossed in the area, and Coady headed firmly, leaving everything equal to the 51 of the final stage, much to Boehly’s sadness.
