Covid-19 transmission rate rises and passes 1 in the Federal District

The transmission rate of the new coronavirus rose and reached the index of 1.01 this Friday (6/5). According to information from the Epidemiological Bulletin, released by the Health Department of the Federal District (SES-DF), the viral index has not exceeded the value of 1 since February 17.

The number is worrying according to the World Health Organization (WHO), because when the rate is above 1 it confirms that the pandemic is out of control. In this way, the number shows that a group of 100 people can infect another 101.

In the most recent bulletin, published at 5 pm, the folder also notified 2 deaths due to covid-19. One victim was female and the other male. The two were between 60 and 69 years old and resided in the Federal District. In all, 11,660 victims have died in the country’s capital since the beginning of the pandemic.


Regarding those infected, 139 new positive cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. In this way, the total number of people infected in the federal capital reached 697,512. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the secretariat accounts that more than 621 thousand are residents of the DF, 36 thousand from Goiás, 9 thousand from other states and 30 thousand are under investigation.

Relative to moving averages, infections are at 205, which is a 32% increase from 14 days ago. The moving average of deaths is at 1.8 — this represents a 50% drop, compared to the calculation of 14 days ago.
