Under a kind of maximum tone of Ferrari exclusivity, the bespoke SP48 Unica model was developed by the Italian automaker for a single customer. It is a “One-Off” two-seater sports coupe based on the F8 Tributo platform from the luxury brand of Maranello.
The unique touches are also in the fact that the customer has participated with suggestions and requests during all stages of the vehicle’s development, carried out by Ferrari’s Special Projects department. Reinforcing: there is no other car like this in the world.
In other words, One-Off is the production of a single unit of a single car for a single customer. In this sense, the owner actively participates in the development of the project, together with designers from the Style Center and Ferrari engineers.
Traces of a Literally Unique Ferrari
Among the most unique features of the SP48 Unica, we have the arrow-shaped front profile, the redesign of the headlights and the relocation of the brake air intakes. Extensive use of procedural parametric modeling techniques and 3D prototyping allowed a complete redefinition of the machine’s front grille and engine air intakes.
This engine, accompanying the 3.9-liter twin-turbo from the F8 Tributo platform, presents itself as a V8 with 710 hp and 770 Nm of torque. Therefore, the SP48 Unica created for Ferrari’s exclusive customer can do 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds (0 to 200 km/h in 7.8 seconds), with a top speed of 340 km/h.
Other unique details of this One-Off car are the reduction in the size of the side windows and the elimination of the rear window of the coupé. At the back, the custom touches were also given in the application of very thin LED backlighting (instead of the round lights of the F8 Tributo base).
Ferrari explains that the entire One-Off process takes on average more than a year, during which time the customer is closely involved in the assessment of the design and verification phases. About how much the vehicle must have cost, it is valued considerably above the starting price of an F8 model. That is, much more than the initial US$ 283,950 (R$ 1.4 million in direct conversion).
