Shakespeare’s Passion

London, 1593. The title of Will Shakespeare’s (Joseph Fiennes) last work, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter, portends a failure. Viola (Gwyneth Paltrow), an aristocrat who disguises herself as a boy to step on stage (at a time when female characters are played by men), ends up getting the lead role, winning the author’s heart and changing the fate of the play. John Madden makes this fake biography of the most famous of playwrights, based on a script by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard. Geoffrey Rush, Judi Dench and Colin Firth are also part of the cast. The film won seven of the 13 Oscars for which it was nominated.

In 1910, several tourists began to disappear from the beaches around the English Channel in France. The police are called to intervene and realize that a bay is at the center of everything. And it’s all linked to a strange bourgeois family that spends their holidays in the area and doesn’t cross paths with anyone. Nominated for the Palme d’Or in Cannes, a comedy by French artist Bruno Dumont, with performances by Juliette Binoche, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Fabrice Luchini, Brandon Lavieville and Raph.

Science fiction in a post-apocalyptic environment, directed by Joseph Kosinski. Tom Cruise wears the uniform of Jack Harper, repairman drones in 2073. During a mission vital to the survival of humanity, he meets a young woman (Olga Kurylenko) who he feels he recognizes from the past, as well as the leader of a group of resisters (Morgan Freeman). Events ensue that will make him question everything he knows about himself, the war and what brought the planet to ruin.
The Great Mystical Circus

This Brazilian, Portuguese and French co-production, which was shot in Portugal, follows several generations of the Knieps family, at the head of the circus that opened in the early 20th century. The realization is in charge of the veteran Cacá Diegues (Bye Bye Brazil, God is Brazilian). The cast includes Vincent Cassel, Albano Jerónimo, Mariana Ximenes, Antônio Fagundes, Bruna Linzmeyer, Catherine Mouchet and Nuno Lopes.

Solidarity Lisbon – Concert for Ukraine

From the São Luiz Municipal Theater comes the echo of a Solidarity Lisbon that is mobilizing tonight to support the Ukrainian people. The concert brings together Agir, Camané, Carminho, Jorge Palma, Maria João, Mário Laginha and Miguel Araújo and the String Quartet of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon. The initiative, which also includes video participation by Clã and Salvador Sobral, is intended to raise funds for the purchase of essential goods for refugees arriving in Portugal from Ukraine.
