Nantes haven’t won a title since 2001, when they took the Ligue 1 and French Champions Cup trophies. This is the fourth Coupe de France trophy in the club’s history, which has not won the competition since 2000.

The match at the Stade de France – traditional venue for the national cup final – was marked by a great party from Nantes fans and the presence of the newly re-elected president Emmanuel Macron. He participated in the delivery of the trophy to the champion squad.
On the field, the match started with balance and an intense dispute, with strong fouls and arguments. In the first half, the teams almost didn’t create dangerous chances, although Nice had the best opportunities.
After the teams went to the dressing rooms tied, Nice managed to jump ahead on the scoreboard right at the beginning of the final stage. In the first move of the second half, Merlin tried a cross that hit Lotomba’s arm, and judge Stephanie Frappart scored the penalty. Blas charged and converted, securing the conquest for Nantes.
