Are they! Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth appear together as the Gods of Thunder in a new photo from the set of “Thor: Love and Thunder“. The image was released by Empire magazine, which received it exclusively from Marvel Studios.
It is possible to see in more detail the new uniform of Thor (Hemsworth) and the complete outfit of Jane Foster (Portman), already assuming the mantle of the Mighty Thor.
In an interview with the magazine, Taika Waititi, director of the sequel, commented on the personal conflicts that the characters will have to face in the new film. A lot has changed in the story since audiences saw Jane in “Thor: The Dark World” (2013), who will now not only be a renowned astrophysicist, but also a woman worthy of carrying Mjolnir.
The New Zealander talked about how it won’t be easy for Thor to understand the situation. “It’s been about eight years. And then the love of your life comes back into the picture, now dressed like you. This really f*cks Thor’s head,” he explains.
Waititi also said he didn’t know he was going to use the Mighty Thor story until he started working on the film’s story. He then thought about how cool it could be to bring the character of Portman back, but in a different way than before.
“You don’t want to see Natalie come back and play the same character who’s walking around with scientific equipment,” the director said. “You know, while Thor is flying around, she’s left on Earth stamping her foot saying, ‘when is he coming back?’ This is boring, you want her to be a part of the adventure.”
“Thor: Love and Thunder” hits Brazilian theaters on July 8 this year. The cast also includes Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan and many others already known to fans.
