Botafogo arrives in Brasília for a classic with Flamengo and is welcomed by the fans

THE Botafogo is already in Brasilia for the classic carioca of this Sunday of Mother’s Day (8/5), at 11 am, against Flamengo, Mané Garrincha Stadium. The alvinegra delegation landed at JK Airport around 4:40 pm this Saturday (5/7) and went directly to the hotel where they will be concentrated, in the North Hotel Sector.

The reception from Brasilia to the team from Rio de Janeiro was lively. The fans went to the door of the hotel to sing and support the characters from Botafogo before the classic against Flamengo. A resident of Sobradinho, Wellison da Silva Pereira spared no effort to accompany the team’s arrival in the federal capital. “It’s a nice experience to see them all up close. We took pictures with the players and the coaching staff. I brought my dad to feel the mood too,” he says.

A Botafogo fan since 1999, Wellison will be at Mané Garrincha and does not hide his optimism about the score of the classic. “We will win 2-0, with goals from Erison and Chay. The victory will give us confidence for the Brasileirão sequence”, he analyzes.

For those who haven’t played in the Federal District since 2019, this is the second time Botafogo will play in Brasília in 2022. The first was on April 20, when they beat Ceilândia 3 x 0, in the first leg of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. Brasil, which ended the negative record of two consecutive defeats at Mané Garrincha.

Luís Castro and his subordinates arrive in the federal capital with good expectations. Glorioso is four games without losing. The last stumble was on April 10, in the 3 x 1 defeat to Corinthians, in the opening round of the Brazilian Championship. In classics, however, the Botafogo retrospect leaves something to be desired. In five duels against rivals from Rio, there were two wins and three defeats – one of them 3 x 1 to Flamengo itself.

The 5,000 people from Botafogo who go to Mané Garrincha on Mother’s Day expect victory and balance in their numbers in direct confrontations against rivals from Rio de Janeiro.
