|With front-wheel drive and only one engine, XC40 has greater autonomy|
Unlike what happens with combustion cars, hybrids and electrics usually have at least two engines, and can have four. In Brazil, Volvo has so far marketed two electric SUVs: both with two engines.
Now, the company has announced that it will offer a version of the XC40 with just one engine. Called Recharge Plus, the new configuration has front-wheel drive and yields 231 horsepower and 33.6 kgfm of torque.
With less power than the other option, which yields 408 hp, the range has increased to 420 kilometers. The price is also lower: R$ 309,950, R$ 90,000 less than the model with two engines. It arrives in the country in August and can already be booked.
CAOA CLOSES PRODUCTION IN SP
Chery’s first factory outside China, the Jacareí unit, in the interior of São Paulo, had its activities paralyzed. The decision was made by Caoa, a partner of the Chinese manufacturer that was responsible for the production. As a result, the production of the Tiggo 3x SUV and the Arrizo 6 Pro sedan were left undefined.
In a statement, Caoa Chery states that the decision aims to remodel the production line for the manufacture of electric vehicles, updating its portfolio.
According to the Metalworkers Union of São José dos Campos e Região, the company will dismiss employees involved with the manufacturing activities at the site.
Production in Anápolis, in the interior of Goiás, where the Tiggo 5x, Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 SUVs are assembled, continues to operate.
JEEP ANNOUNCES GLADIATOR
For some time now I have noticed that the pickup truck market is growing and with many manufacturers directing efforts towards the creation of new products.
This week, Jeep confirmed that the Gladiator, the first model with a Wrangler-derived bucket, will arrive in Brazil. With the increase in the supply of these utilities comes specialization, and Gladiator is an example of this.
|Jeep’s pickup is based on the Wrangler and will arrive in the next few weeks|
The model should arrive in Brazil in the coming weeks equipped with the V6 Pentastar engine, which has 3.6 liters and is powered by gasoline. This engine, which produces 285 hp and 35.9 kgfm of torque, works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with reduced 4×4 traction and front and rear differential locks. That is, it is a product focused on leisure, like the Ram 1500.
AMAROK, THE NEW GENERATION
In Argentina, Volkswagen announced an investment of US$ 250 million and this is of great interest to the Brazilian market.
Part of the investment is for the production of the new generation of Amarok in General Pacheco, in Greater Buenos Aires. The VW pickup was developed in conjunction with the Ford Ranger, which will also be produced in the country.

In addition, parts for the Taos SUV will be produced there and Ducati motorcycles will be assembled in Córdoba, the second most populous city in the country.
Argentina will be the first country outside Italy to manufacture the motorcycles of the company, which belongs to Audi, a brand of the VW Group.
ECLIPSE CROSS: NO CONTROVERSY
Some things are very subjective, like aesthetics. However, time proves when something is, in fact, wrong. At least in the automotive market.
At the launch of the Eclipse Cross, in 2017, Mitsubishi made two controversies: one of them was to use the name of the sports coupé in an SUV. The other was the rear with split glass, which just three years later was restyled.

Controversies aside, the Eclipse Cross update finally reached the Brazilian market. There are four versions, always with the same 1.5 turbo engine (165 hp and 25.5 kgfm of torque) and CVT gearbox, with prices between R$ 186,990 and R$ 232,990.
