Bahia is the 15th club that owes the most in Brazil, according to a survey


Esporte Clube Bahia closed the 2021 season with revenue of R$ 208.6 million, the best among clubs in the Northeast and 12th among all clubs in Brazilian football. According to the balance sheet, the club from Bahia had a surplus of R$ 27.8 million. According to a survey carried out by the company “Sports Value”specialized in sports marketing, branding, sponsorships/activations, evaluation of brands and sports properties, Esquadrão appears as 15th in the ranking of the most debtor clubs in the country and 12th among the clubs with the most football spending.

Bahia has a debt valued at R$ 225.3 million, ahead of clubs such as Athletico-PR, América-MG, Fortaleza, Ceará and Atlético-GO. Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro are the ones that owe the most. Current Brazilian champion, Galo has a debt of R$ 1.260 billion, while Raposa owes R$ 1.020 billion. After the miners, there are Corinthians, Internacional, Botafogo, Vasco, Fluminense, São Paulo, Santos, Palmeiras, Flamengo, Grêmio, Red Bull Bragantino and Sport.

In the Top-5 of the clubs with the most debts in Brazilian football, Botafogo got a discount of R$266 million in tax debts due to Law 14,148 of May 3, 2021. In addition, Glorioso obtained a surplus of R$78, 4 million. The Governor has filed an action in force with the aim of establishing emergency actions, whose aim is to compensate for the consequences of Covid-19. In the meantime, Botafogo laid off 100 employees because of spending cuts generated by the pandemic.
