Everything you can see at the cinema in Oeiras this week

The big highlight goes to “Downton Abbey: A New Age”, but there is also animation, adventure and fantasy.

Another week, more movies to watch at the cinema at the Oeiras Parque shopping center. In total, there are eight productions to choose from and in genres that suit all tastes, from animation, adventure, fantasy and even the premiere of a Portuguese film.

One of the most anticipated works this year was “Downton Abbey: A New Age”. The historical drama, which follows the life of an aristocratic British family at the beginning of the 20th century, is back to the delight of the millions of fans that the series has conquered over the years and made it a true phenomenon of popularity.

The television series ran between 2010 and 2015. Four years later, in 2019, the first film directed by Michael Engler was released and now, in 2022, the second, directed by Simon Curtis, which features the original cast of the series and some new characters.

Cinemas NOS Oeiras Parque

“Downton Abbey: A New Age”, created by Julian Fellowes and directed by Simon Curtis, brings a mystery, a journey, a wedding and even the arrival of new people to the mansion. The famous aristocrats go on a journey to the south of France to discover the mystery of the Villa inherited by the Countess of Dowager. The characters already known, such as those played by Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, are now joined by actors Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West. Sessions: every day at 12:45, 15:20, 18:10 and 21:00, in room 2. On Saturday and Sunday also at 23:30 in room 5.

“A film in the form of this” is a Portuguese premiere. Directed by João Botelho, it is organized like a dream, structured like a musical and with texts, both spoken and sung, that lead to unexpected and exciting situations and that try to grasp part of what Alexandre O’Neill left us. Among the cast are names like Pedro Lacerda, Inês Castel-Branco Crista Alfaiate, with special participation of Rita Blanco. Sessions: every day at 2 pm, 5 pm and 8:30 pm in room 6.

“Olga”, is a European film, from 2021, which now arrives in Portuguese cinemas. Directed by Elie Grappe, it features Anastasiia Budiashkina, Sabrina Rubtsova, Caterina Barloggio. It tells the story of a 15-year-old gymnast, of Ukrainian nationality but exiled in Switzerland, who works to secure her place at the country’s National Sports Centre. Sessions: every day at 12:50 and 15:00 in room 3.

“Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness”, directed by Sam Raimi, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejifor, Elizabeth Olsen and Rachel McAdams in the cast, brings us adventure, action and fantasy. In the film, a forbidden spell cast by Doctor Strange opens the door to the multiverse, including alternate realities and versions of himself, whose threat to humanity is too great for his forces and those of his allies. Sessions: every day at 8:45 pm in room 5. If you prefer to see the film in the ATMOS version, there are sessions every day in room 1 at 1 pm, 3:45 pm, 6:40 pm, 9:40 pm; Friday and Saturday also in the midnight session, in room 2.

“Os Mauzões”, an animated film by Pierre Perifel, in the Portuguese version with the voices of Tomás Alves, Manuel Marques and Nuno Markl. DreamWorks Animation’s comedy tells the story of a gang of criminal animals, who decide to be nice. Sessions: every day at 1:10 pm, 3:30 pm and 6 pm, in room 5; Sunday also at 11:15 am in Room 6.

“The Lost City” by Aaron Nee and Adam Nee, with Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe. The film tells how a famous writer is kidnapped during the promotion of her latest book and goes on an epic adventure in the jungle to save herself. Sessions: in room 4, at 10 pm on the 12th and from the 15th to the 18th; Friday and Saturday, the 13th and 14th, at 9:10 pm in room 3.

“Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets” by David Yates, with Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen. With the Black Sorcerer poised to control the wizarding world, Professor Dumbledore is forced to assemble a group of aides to try to stop him. Sessions: every day at 5:10 pm and 9:20 pm, in room 3; Friday and Saturday also at 22:00 in room 4.

“Sonic 2 — The Movie” by Jeff Fowler, with James Marsden, Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey. The adventure film, dubbed in Portuguese, The Return of Dr. Robotnik puts Sonic to the test and to prove that he is a true hero he will have to find an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations before it falls into the wrong hands. Sessions: every day at 1:30 pm, 4:15 pm and 7:00 pm in room 4.
