The fans spoke and Scarlett Johansson is this year’s Best Hero in the MTV Movie & TV Awards. This year, the 30th annual ceremony was hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and Tayshia Adams. Black Widow managed to pick up two nominations, and that includes the Best Hero nomination for Johansson, along with the “Black Widow vs. Widows” for Best Fight.
Best Fight went to “Cassie vs. Maddy” by Euphoria, but it was still a great night for Johansson. She took the win in the Best Hero category, and that was no easy feat as it meant beating out some other very popular contenders. They were also nominated for Best Hero Daniel Craig for no time to dieOscar Isaac for moon knightSimu Liu to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsand Tom Holland for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Black Widow it served as a prequel film that further explored Natasha Romanoff’s origin story following her fate in Avengers: Endgame. Directed by Cate Shortland, the film begins shortly after captain america civil war with Romanoff on the run. The film also starred Florence Pugh, David Harbour, OT Fagbenle, Olga Kurylenko, William Hurt and Rachel Weisz. It also served as a send-off for Johansson in that role, who finally got his own solo film after debuting in the MCU in 2010. Iron man 2.
Have we seen the last of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow?
With Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson sees the film as the end of an era and a perfect way to end her time in the MCU. She already explained in a good morning america interview that she will miss all the good times she had working on Marvel movies, but simply feel like her character’s story is over.
“I’ve had an amazing decade working with my Marvel family,” she said. “I’m going to miss not seeing them every 18 months or two years, like that kind of milestone I always look forward to.”
She added: “But I feel very proud of this film and I think it’s great to leave on a high note. This movie is so different from any other Marvel movie we’ve done so far, so yeah… like I said, it’s bittersweet.”
Meanwhile, the MCU had a pretty good night out of Johansson’s Best Hero win. Spider-Man: No Way Home it also won Best Picture, and its lead star, Tom Holland, won Best Performance in a Motion Picture. With the recent success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was nothing short of huge, there was a good chance that Holland would also win the Best Hero award, for which he was nominated alongside Johansson. But it was Johansson that fans liked most of all, at least with the MTV audience.
