Amid instability of Paulo Sousa’s work in charge of the Flamengo team, journalist Fábio Sormani gave a “homemade solution” to the Carioca Rubro-Negro. During ESPN’s F90 program, the commentator stated that midfielder Diego Ribas could be the club’s coach, comparing the idea to the process of Paulo César Carpegiani, who took over Flamengo shortly after retiring from the pitch.

– I would put Diego Ribas to coach Flamengo. I would transition with him. Carpegiani started like this. Diego has knowledge, he has worked with technicians in Brazil and Europe, he knows how to give training. Surely he could take it, he said.

Diego has been a student at CBF Academy since 2021 and seeks to become a professional football coach. According to Sormani, the theoretical training of the shirt number 10 from Gávea with the experience of years of career would be factors that would qualify him to be Flamengo’s coach.
The process suggested by Sormani would supposedly be similar to that of Paulo César Carpegiani. Recently retired from the lawns, Carpegiani took charge of Fla in 1981, he commanded Zico, Júnior, Nunes and company in the most important titles of the club in the 80’s, such as Libertadores, Mundial Interclubes, Carioca and Brazilian of 82.
