Woman dies after being attacked by shark while swimming

A 39-year-old woman died after being attacked by a great white shark while swimming on a beach in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. She was staying at a luxury resort in the area with her husband and four-year-old daughter. The two witnessed the attack.

The case was registered yesterday morning (25). According to the African country’s National Ocean Rescue Institute, Kimon Bisogno, who owns a restaurant in Cape Town, was just over 15 meters from the sand when she was attacked.

To the international press, a witness stated that the businesswoman was in waist-deep water when a wave “brought” the shark and, quickly, the “ocean turned red”.

She was pulled out of the water by rescuers, but died even before reaching the hospital.

According to the South African website News24, the beaches in the municipality were closed for investigation after the attack.

In June, another white shark attack at the same location was recorded and one man died. At the time, the beach was closed for two days.

Earlier this month, the South African government issued a warning about increased shark activity in the area as a whale carcass approached the coast.

On social media, friends and relatives of Kimon Bisogno mourned the death of the woman, known in Cape Town for owning a pizzeria and for idealizing a project that feeds homeless people with homemade pasta.

“She was one of the best human beings that ever walked this earth. She brought so much comfort to those who most needed love and support,” said one of the friends.
