Luan talks about ‘good head’ and aims to fight for Libertadores

Luan disenchanted after a year and four months without hitting the net. The midfielder paved the way for Santos to win yesterday (27), 2-0, against Athletico-PR, for the Brazilian Championship.

The day after the header and the good collective game by Peixe, shirt 20 went to television programs and assured that he has a good head. He said that the goal helps him regain confidence and is already looking at the fight for a spot in the next Libertadores with Peixe.

“Unfortunately this always happens. [inventarem coisas], not just with me. They don’t seek the truth, they talk with their mouths out. I try to keep my head straight, hold on to God, my family, which is the foundation of everything. Seek their trust, my mother’s. I’m very calm about it, for better or worse, I don’t get carried away. I’m very calm in my personal life too, I prefer to stay in mine”, said the player to ESPN’s “SportsCenter”, when asked if he had been suffering from depression.

To “Seleção Sportv”, the player said he does not think about a possible return to Grêmio in 2023. According to him, the focus is on helping Santos return to Libertadores.

“I’m very happy, very confident. I think that yesterday’s goal was special and I hope to continue. May it be the first of many with this shirt. My thoughts now are on Santos and continue the championship”, he said.

“My perspective, first, was to be able to play again, honestly, that was my greatest wish. I had been working every day to have this opportunity, and when I had, to be able to help Santos. My perspective is to finish this Brazilian, put Santos to fight for big things, we know we have the possibility to fight for Libertadores… It’s finishing the Brazilian well, playing, helping Santos. It’s my focus”, he added.

The player again admits that the period without playing has shaken confidence. He reaffirmed, however, that the participation in the triumph against Athletico and the goal will help him to recover the good form.

He also countered the criticism that he lacks intensity on the pitch. “On the criticism that I don’t run: just look at the numbers. Take yesterday’s game, see my actions. I don’t care about that. I try to do what the coaching staff asks”, defended the midfielder.
