Inconstant moment of the Flamengo team is again a reason for criticism in the press after defeat
After qualifying for the finals of Libertadores da América, passing through Vélez Sarsfield, from Argentina, and the Copa do Brasil, eliminating São Paulo, Flamengo is experiencing an inconstant moment in the Brazilian Championship. Currently, the team from Rio has only one victory in the last five rounds, with two defeats and two draws. The bad results have been the subject of criticism in the press and in the crowd.
With the defeat to Fortaleza this Wednesday (28), the team led by Dorival Júnior has not won for four rounds, has stopped at 45 points and has seen a drop in the national competition classification table. Now, the rubro-negro occupies the fifth position after 28 rounds, with two points less than Corinthians, which closes the G-4, and ended the game 12 away from the leader Palmeiras.
The upset in front of Leão do Pici revolted exponents of the media, as was the case of journalist Milton Neves. In his column on UOL Esporte after the game, he reinforced that Flamengo is going through a “free fall” moment. “First of all, I want to make it clear here that it was not Flamengo that lost, but the very brave Fortaleza that won. It also happens that Dorival Júnior’s team is no longer the same”, he said.
“He’s even remembering what happened last year, with Renato Gaúcho. Portaluppi started flying in Gávea and then ended the season empty-handed. And I begin to fear that the same will happen to the great Dorival (…). If it continues like this, he will end up taking good beatings from the cupbearers Corinthians and Athletico-PR. And, let’s face it, if the millionaire Fla ends another year without cups, it will be an embarrassment for anyone to put a defect”, said Milton Neves
