Vítor Pereira criticizes Corinthians performance despite victory

Coach Vítor Pereira was not happy with Corinthians’ performance against Atlético-GO, despite the 2-1 victory tonight (28), at Neo Química Arena, for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship.

In a press conference after the match, the Portuguese admitted that he expected a better performance from his team after ten days without games, but he valued the result achieved “in claw”.

“I recognize that the result is better than the exhibition”, summarized VP.

When analyzing the match, Vítor Pereira revealed that he was surprised by Atlético-GO’s game proposal and did not hide his dissatisfaction with the athletes’ performance during the 90 minutes.

“There was a lack of offensive dynamics. Defensively I had the feeling that we were always late. We created some opportunities that have to be done. They also created and that makes me confused. A game to be consistent has to be a game that creates opportunities and not let the opponent create. I’m not very satisfied with the game we played”, evaluated the coach.

“I expected a stronger game from us, more consistent defensively. We were away, with the lines far, without the ability to press. Atlético-GO presented itself in a different structure, we were not expecting it, because they never played like this. in width. Offensively, the dynamics were not fluid. It was not a constant thing in the game. Result pulled out a little in the race, in the spirit and in the will to win. We created goal situations, but they also created, more than they should”, continued VP.

Finally, Vítor Pereira also spoke with the identification he has been building with Corinthians, although he has not yet defined whether or not he will remain at the club next season. The Portuguese praised Fiel and commented on having watched the finals of the women’s and under-20 Brasileirão last weekend.

“I’ve been saying for a long time that, wherever I’ve been, I’ve never felt such a strong connection between fans and the club. Corinthians fans are passionate. I meet people on the street and they tell me that the club is ahead of women, family,” he said.

“The women’s final was fantastic. It was the first time I saw a women’s game and I really enjoyed it. It was a shame the wind I took, I have the flu, but it was worth it. in the same way, in a spectacular way. I have no words. I really like being here. Then they say I’m always talking about the crowd… I’m not much of that, I’m ‘bread bread, cheese cheese’, as they say in my country. What I feel I say, what I don’t feel I don’t say”, concluded Vítor Pereira.

Corinthians returns to the field on Saturday (1), at 9 pm, when they host Cuiabá, at Neo Química Arena, for the 29th round of the Brasileirão.
