Meet the cast of the movie ‘Amsterdam’, which opens in theaters on October 6

Amsterdam”, the new film from 20th Century Studios, opens October 6 exclusively in theaters, and features the story of 3 friends who witness a crime and find themselves involved in one of the most shocking plots in American history.

Meet, below, the cast of the film, composed of renowned actors, giving even more weight to the new production.

CHRISTIAN BALE

Born in Wales in 1974, Christian Bale grew up in England and the USA. He made his film debut in “Empire of the Sun” (1987), Steven Spielberg’s epic World War II film, and remained prominent in major productions such as: “American Psycho” (2000), “Batman Begins” ( 2005), “The Dark Knight Rises” (2006), “Batman: The Dark Knight” (2008), “Batman: The Dark Knight Rises” (2012), “American Hustle” (2013), “Thor: Love and Thunder ” (2022), among many others.

On “Amsterdam,” in addition to playing the character Burt Berendsen, Christian Bale serves as producer alongside Arnon Milchan, Matthew Budman, Anthony Katagas and David O. Russell, with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer and Sam Hanson executive producing.

MARGOT ROBBIE

Margot Robbie is an actress and producer who has captivated global audiences with performances alongside some of cinema’s most notable names and bringing exciting narratives to life in coveted roles, highlighted by her powerful onscreen presence. The actress has starred in titles such as “I, Tonya” (2017), for which she was nominated for an Oscar® for Best Actress, “Bombshell” (2019), “Suicide Squad” (2016), “Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn and Her Fantabulous Emancipation” (2020), among others.

In addition to “Amsterdam”, among his most recent productions, Robbie is also in the cast of Damien Chazelle’s 1920s drama “Babylon”, alongside Brad Pitt.

JOHN DAVID WASHINGTON

John David Washington starred in the film “BlacKkKlansman” (2018), directed by Spike Lee and produced by Jason Blum and Jordan Peele, opposite Adam Driver and Laura Harrier. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation and won the Grand Prix. The actor received multiple nominations for his portrayal of Ron Stallworth during the 2019 awards season, including a Golden Globe® and SAG Award® Best Actor nomination.

Among other productions, he also produced and starred alongside Zendaya in “Malcolm & Marie” (2021) and starred in Christopher Nolan’s hit film “Tenet” (2020).

ALESSANDRO NIVOLA

Alessandro Nivola has established himself as one of the most versatile actors of his generation, with a variety of complex roles in his career, such as in “American Hustle” (2013), “Disobedience” (2017), “A Outra Face” (1997) and many others. He is currently in the production of “The Big Cigar,” a limited series that follows Black Panther Party founder Huey P. Newton (André Holland) and his best friend Bert Schneider (Nivola), a Hollywood producer who helped Newton escape to Cuba while being pursued by the FBI.

Nivola was part of the cast of the film “Boston Strangler”, also from 20th Century Studios, due to open in 2023. Written and directed by Matt Ruskin, the production follows Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), the reporter who broke the story of the Boston Strangler. .

ANYA TAYLOR-JOY

Anya Taylor-Joy became known for her performance in the film “The Witch” (2015), which received rave reviews when it premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. She captivated a larger audience, however, after starring in the Emmy-winning series ® “The Queen’s Gambit” (2020), based on the novel of the same name by Walter Tevis. For her portrayal of Beth Harmon, Anya won Best Actress at the Golden Globes®, Critics’ Choice and Screen Actors Guild® Awards, in addition to being nominated for an Emmy®.

The plot features a couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) who travel to a remote island to visit the exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a luxurious menu with some shocking surprises.

CHRIS ROCK

With a career spanning more than three decades, Chris Rock is a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. He created the iconic series “Everybody Hates Chris” and starred in films such as “At Height of Fame” (2014), “The Lowdown” (2005) and “The Poor Man in the White House” (2003). In March, he made his long-awaited return to live comedy with his Ego Death World Tour 2022 tour.

In addition to “Amsterdam”, his upcoming releases include the biopic “Rustin” and his animated series “Everybody Still Hates Chris”, in which he serves as executive producer and narrator.

ANDREA RISEBOROUGH

Andrea Riseborough captivates audiences and earns critical acclaim with every role she plays, which includes her characters in “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” (2014), “Oblivion” (2013), “Possessor” (2020) , between others.

Riseborough will soon be seen in Amanda Kramer and Noel David Taylor’s “Please Baby Please”, which premiered at the 2022 Rotterdam International Film Festival. Tony® and Olivier, in which she will play Mrs. Wormwood, Matilda’s mother, playing opposite Emma Thompson and Lashana Lynch.

Most recently, Olyphant executive produced and starred in the comedy “Santa Clarita Diet”, and also appeared in the series “Fargo”, “The Mandalorian” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.

ZOE SALDAÑA
