Larson plays Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in the popular superhero movie franchise. She debuted in the role in 2018, at the time, Larson faced resistance online from a small group of Marvel fans – who campaigned for sexist harassment.
In an interview with Variety, Larson was asked how long she would play Captain Marvel. “I don’t know,” she replies. “Does anyone want me to do this again?”
She then shrugs her shoulders and gets serious, although the interviewer asks her not to be “modest”. “I don’t know. I don’t really have the answer to that,” she adds.
On social media, fans shared various reactions: “This is a bit heartbreaking,” wrote one person, while another commented: “I hate how some people treat her, she is amazing, I love Brie Larson and I liked Captain Marvel. ”.
“I don’t want to assume this is the case, but honestly, if she’s considering leaving the role because of a bunch of internet hate, let me tell you @brielarson. Not. You are an amazing actress and we want to see you continue to play Captain Marvel for a long time to come.”
