THE new Identity Card (CNI) began to be issued in part of the country, but the deadline for all states to adapt to the model is until March 6, 2023. Meanwhile, the updated document is available in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Acre , Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná and the Federal District.

The version replaces the old RG (General Registry) with a series of new features that made it more modern and secure. To prevent fraud, the federal government adopted the single number through the CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas).
In theory, a citizen could have up to 27 documents with different numbers just by taking out an ID in each state and DF. With the change, the numbering is now unified across the country.
How to request the new identity?
The document will also be issued in the digital version, which comes with the same layout and the same security as the physical one. In states where it is already available, the interested party must go to the service locations to request its issuance.
To apply, you must present a birth or marriage certificate; photo identification document; and regularized CPF. The CPF status can be consulted on the Federal Revenue website, in the “Proof of Registration Status” tab.
It is also possible to issue the document through the same portal. Those who need to regularize the CPF must send an email to the Revenue, containing copies of the required personal documents. The list can be found on the agency’s website.
