The company selling the yacht is Merle Wood & Associates of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The sale of MySky was disclosed in an announcement emailed to an undisclosed group of recipients on September 14.
Kesaev has ordered another yacht, called the Sky, according to Sara Gioanola, a spokeswoman for Heesen Yachts, the Dutch company that built the MySky.
Western governments are worried that Russian billionaires like Kesaev will be able to circumvent international sanctions imposed on them.
The European Union and the United Kingdom penalized Kesaev in April after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Europeans justified the sanctions by saying that the Russian has links with the production of military weapons and the distribution of tobacco in Russia and that he is linked to the Russian government and its security forces.
The US did not sanction Kesaev and the US Treasury did not respond to requests for comment.
