There has always been concern among fans over whether Spider-Man will remain in the MCU due to the controversial issue over his rights. Ever since Sony launched its own weird franchise – Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), which currently doesn’t have a Spider-Man – some expect it to cross over there by the end of this year. Spider-Man: No Way Home.
That wasn’t the case, and for now, it looks like he’ll be staying in the MCU. Now, fans are waiting for a fourth movie to be announced, along with the inclusion of other iconic Spider-Man characters currently owned by Sony. In particular, these heroes and villains are expected to arrive in the MCU soon, either in spiderman 4 or even in your own project.
Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
Since Peter Parker first appeared on the captain america civil war trailer, many fans have been asking for one thing next – Miles Morales. The young hero was only presented in 2011, and even before Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, he was highly desired for the MCU. Importantly, he is already linked with the universe as in Spider-Man: Homecominghis uncle, Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover, made reference to him.
In the time that has passed in-universe since that moment, it’s been nearly a decade, making Miles perfectly aged for his live-action debut. Of course, the perfect spot would be right away in spiderman 4how could Peter use some new friends and allies now that everyone has forgotten he exists.
Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)
There are some characters that are clearly in the Spider-Family but don’t share their origins with Peter Parker. One such character is Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman. She’s a classic Marvel character and one of the main Avengers yet to appear in the MCU. Given her role in the comics arc, many think Emilia Clarke will play her – or at least Queen Veranke using her face – in Secret Invasion.
When she arrives, she could join the ranks of Black Widow and Nick Fury as one of the best spies in the MCU if they keep her origins as a former HYDRA agent intact. Her introduction can also help to incorporate the other Spider-Women and Spider-Girls.
Ghost Spider (Gwen Stacy)
As Miles Morales, the door is open to introduce Peter Parker’s key ally and romantic partner, Gwen Stacy. She could come into play, either from the Multiverse or as her Earth-616 self, as her superhero counterpart, Ghost Spider.
Such a story could explore their relationship, and with its powers, it would be different from what was previously shown. The caveat is that while Peter and Gwen work well together, many fans aren’t looking forward to Peter and MJ actually breaking up, and it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll get over his feelings for MJ anytime soon.
Black Cat (Felicia Hardy)
Spider-Man: No Way Home almost did what Sony had been wanting for a long time – bring the Sinister Six to live-action. With Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Lizard and Sandman, they came to six. Although, Tom Hardy’s Venom could technically fill out the group. However, this crosses several names from the list of possible future villains. One of the best prospects of this montage of characters is Felicia Hardy AKA Black Cat.
She is an analogue of Catwoman from Marvel Comics and has acted as both villain and heroine. Like Gwen Stacy, she would be a good romantic partner for Peter in a future film.
Silver Saber (Silvija Sablinova)
If Black Cat comes into play, so does her longtime partner, Silver Sable. As Black Cat, she is more of an anti-hero, thanks to her occupation as a mercenary and assassin.
Silver Sable would be an interesting addition to the MCU and Spider-Man story as it would introduce yet another international character. With Black Widow, moon knightand lady marvel, the scope of the MCU’s heroism isn’t just American or cosmos-based. She could even come into play with fellow Wild Pack mercenaries.
Silk (Cindy Moon)
Over the past decade, the Spider-Family has expanded exponentially, and one of the most prominent members is Silk. Cindy Moon was bitten by the same spider that bit Peter, but unlike him, she creates an organic web. Cindy has actually appeared in the MCU, as one of Peter’s classmates before the Blip, played by Tiffany Epensen, but she obviously didn’t have her powers.
She can be an interesting new ally, especially if they dig deeper into her story – something that could have happened during the Blip – but like Black Cat and Silver Sable, Sony has plans for her. She could be one of the main heroines of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe as a Silk The TV show is reportedly still in the works for Amazon Prime Video, and she will appear in upcoming spiderverse movies too.
The Rose (Richard Fisk)
One of the most exciting elements of Phase Four so far has been the reincorporation of Marvel Television, bringing back Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio from Reckless. They already have a busy future on Disney+ with She-Hulk: Lawyer, echoand finally Daredevil: Born Again. So the opportunity is ripe to introduce more characters related to the Kingpin, including his son Richard Fisk.
Rose could work very well in Daredevil’s ongoing story. He does not follow in his father’s footsteps, even going so far as to try to kill him and become a violent antihero afterward. Kingpin and Vanessa did not have a child in Recklessbut since Daredevil: Born Again it is not a complete revival, your family history may be changed to bring your child.
Mister Negative (Martin Li)
while the MCU Spider man movies have passed their fair share of iconic Spider-Man villains, there’s still a lot more to embody. One of the best options would be Mister Negative. He also served as an antagonist to The Punisher and Cloak and Dagger, so introducing him could be a way to bring them into the fold as well. Many will remember him from Marvel’s Spider-Man as one of the main antagonists.
He already has an entry into the MCU since in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Aunt May was shown working for FEAST, the community organization started by Martin Li AKA Mister Negative. Bring him in for some serious character development as well, as Spider-Man is forced to deal with his own inner demons.
Silver Mane (Silvio Manfredi)
Another plus point of having characters like Daredevil, Kingpin, She-Hulk and soon Wonder Man in the MCU is that in some way they are all linked to the Maggia, one of the prominent crime syndicates in the comics. They played a limited role in Agent Carterbut nothing really in the modern era and there are plenty of members that can come into play whether they are owned by Sony or not, like Silvio Manfredi AKA Silvermane.
He is a crime boss and a possible rival to the Kingpin, who clashes with Spider-Man repeatedly. What sets him apart, and it would be intriguing to see the MCU deal with, is that he becomes a cyborg villain later in life. Silvermane along with Hammerhead, Tombstone and/or Count Nefaria should all come into play as more street stories are told.
Specter (Yuri Watanabe)
Yuri Watanabe was once a police officer in New York City, but has become disillusioned with the way the department handles things, especially all the things the rich can get away with. She leaves the force and becomes the vigilante, Wraith, demanding her own form of justice.
They would probably like to introduce her first as a cop and show that evolution over the course of an entire season, rather than simply having her already as a costumed vigilante. However, there is something exciting about bringing her in. She tends to use a lot of different gear from different villains, which can be a fun way for the MCU to show how its weapons or technology can be used differently.
