It’s been a productive year for Marvel Studios, like 2022 Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Lawyer were released and Black Panther: wakanda forever is yet to premiere on November 11th.
Among so many movies and series, the MCU has featured some of its best characters, heroes and villains in blockbuster modern cinema, but with so many pieces released every year, some characters have been more than disappointing.
10/10 Michelle Jones
A deleted Redditor mentioned Michelle Jones from Tom Holland’s Spider man and elaborated, “Sometimes I feel like she’s there because they want Zendaya’s face on the poster. I’m glad they use her more in Far From Home, but in Homecoming she’s there to make some snarky comments.”
It’s true that sometimes MJ’s character can feel a little forced. However, many loved Zendaya’s portrayal of Michelle, and it’s up to you to prove whether she was as good as Spider-Man’s other love interests from previous films, like Kirsten Dunst’s Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane.
Redditor Vin13ish commented, “the villain is just another generic villain who wants to take over the world” and later added, “Malekith is so forgettable”, which is hard to argue with. The character was so poorly portrayed in Thor: The Dark World that many consider him the worst villain Thor has ever faced.
Malekith isn’t necessarily bad because he’s a one-dimensional villain – there are plenty of iconic villains who are equally purely evil – the execution of his evil, however, is boring and dry, which makes him, as the Redditor pointed out, very easy to forget about. .
8/10 Jane Foster
Username of Bruiser321 named Jane Foster, and it’s safe to say many MCU fans agree. While many have tried to blame Natalie Portman’s acting skills, the truth is, there’s not much an exceptional actress like Portman could have done with such a poorly written character.
in the first two Thor movies, her dialogue is creepy, and her entire personality is unbearably corny, which is a shame as Natalie has the talent to embody an unforgettable character. She has become one of the most hated supporting characters in the MCU. However, under the direction of Taika Waititi in the last Thor In the movie, her character became much more interesting and won over many fans who weren’t interested in her earlier drier portrayal.
Puppet Redditor mentioned Falcon, and Clean Dishes added, “His initial intro was cool and all, but he’s turned into a character that’s honestly so forgettable,” which is an unfortunate truth for many. Sam Wilson had what it takes to become an interesting hero, but his story never took a particularly interesting direction (despite a little more characterization in his Disney+ series).
However, most fans are hoping Anthony Mackie will have a better opportunity to showcase his charisma and skill in the newly announced Captain America: New World Orderwhich will be his first big screen appearance as Captain America.
Peter Quill’s sense of humor isn’t for everyone, and the eight-year-old user expressed that sometimes Star-Lord made her feel like he was the worst character in the MCU. For many, his way of distracting Ronan with a dance battle was worthy of fear, and others still can’t forgive him for punching Thanos in a fit or rage right before his allies removed the gauntlet from his hand.
These fans are clearly in the minority, however, as Guardians of the GalaxyIt is still one of the highest rated MCU movies to date. Any overly comedic character will be hit or miss to some degree, and it could be that Star-Lord’s style is a little more divisive than some others.
5/10 Ivan Vanko
Redditor silverBruise_32 selected Ivan Vanko, one of the two villains Iron man 2and added “not a bad character in theory, but lacking in development”, which is why he’s often considered one of the MCU villains that was killed off too soon.
Ivan Vanko’s story was very interesting, and his intelligence was remarkable. However, it was evident that the character’s potential was wasted. Vanko didn’t have much of a chance to shine either, as another much more interesting villain, Justin Hammer, stole the show.
From user Petros_ shared much of the discomfort fans had when they first saw Avengers: Age of Ultron about the main villain of the film. He explained: “I can’t stand weird lines from him, that annoying tone in his voice when he throws a tantrum, the weird tilt of his head and constant nod when he talks.”
Ultron is considered one of the smartest villains in the MCU, but he’s definitely not the best. It can seem shallow, simplistic and bland. It’s a relief, however, that James Spader voiced the evil robot, as he’s almost unbearable to watch, but a pleasure to hear. Many fans want his character to maintain the terribly serious vibe of the movie trailer and Ultron’s intro scene.
3/10 Karli Morgenthau
JPA17 wasn’t alone when they mentioned “Flag Smashers”, and many other Redditors named Karli Morgenthau one of the worst characters the MCU has presented. There have been very few other villains who have felt so boring.
Also, there are a number of things about her and her group that don’t make sense and therefore become irritating, like what Redditor a_supertramp pointed out when they said, “The Flagsmashers inexplicably blowing up a building so the viewer doesn’t start to agree too much.” with them it was just stupid”. The group had a reasonable grievance, but their turn to violence and terrorism felt abrupt and strange.
No Red 9282 had no remarks that were appreciated by other Redditors Marvel fans (given that his post was voted zero). However, one of his opinions was valid. He commented on the strange change in Hulk’s characterization, saying, “Now, he’s practically a comedy character. Any Hulk identity is gone.”
Many fans argue that the Hulk character has a lot of potential that has yet to be explored and that it’s time for Bruce Banner to have more movies of his own. Many feel that the slow character development in several Avengers movies was great, but that his sudden leap to Professor Hulk off-screen was bizarrely sudden and underexplained.
1/10 War Machine
Audiences haven’t seen much of War Machine, which is why its small interventions seem insignificant. Redditor kdray39 further explained and commented, “I never felt like he did much and found him kind of boring.”
There’s not much to say to defend a different point of view, really, since he’s appeared so little in the Iron Man andAvengers films. For now, he seems like a character the writers haven’t paid much attention to, which makes him one of the worst in the MCU. Hopefully, fans will have more of him in the next one. Armor Wars Series.
