after firing Enderson Moreirachampion of Serie B by Botafogo last year, the Bahia announced this Sunday (2) the hiring of another old acquaintance of the Alvinegra fans for the position of coach: Eduardo Baroque.

Barroca began his professional career effectively at Botafogo and his last spell at the alvinegro club ended at the beginning of last year, after relegation to Serie B was decreed.

– I am very happy to return to Bahia. I’ve had wonderful experiences at this club and I’ve seen the team’s connection with its fans up close. I hope to be able to live these emotions again and contribute to the club’s objective of returning to the elite of Brazilian football – said Barroca to the official website of Tricolor Baiano.

With six rounds to go in Serie B, Bahia is in third place, with 52 points, five ahead of Ituano, fifth. Eduardo Barroca debuts for the Bahian club next Tuesday (4), against Novorizontino, in the interior of São Paulo.

Ten years later, Eduardo Barroca is back in the Squadron. Commander of Atlético-GO’s access in 2019, the professional who started his coaching career at Bahia will already lead the team this Tuesday (4), against Novorizontino, in São Paulo.

His first spell at Tricolor took place between January 2011 and May 2013, when he served as the house’s technical assistant. Over the period, he managed the team on an interim basis nine times, with an 81% success rate.

There were seven triumphs, one draw and only one defeat. In the memorable 3-1 over Flamengo in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, he became the youngest coach to win a Série A match in the Brasileirão, aged 29.

Today with 40, he comes to the decisive straight of Serie B and contract until the end of the season.

“I am very happy to return to Bahia. I’ve had wonderful experiences at this club and I’ve seen the team’s connection with its fans up close. I hope to be able to experience these emotions again and contribute to the club’s goal of returning to the elite of Brazilian football,” he said.

Less than three weeks ago he was in Avaí, where he started 2022. He has also commanded teams like Coritiba and Botafogo, the latter on two occasions.

In alvinegro, he also accumulated the experience of being a sub-20 coach, winning both the State and the Brazilian in the category. In the sequence, he coached the under-20 of Corinthians.

Eduardo de Souza Barroca, born in Rio de Janeiro, will join the blue, red and white delegation just in time for this Sunday’s activity in Campinas.
