The 11th and final season of The Walking Dead returned this Sunday (2) after an almost six-month hiatus to air the final stretch of the zombie drama. With Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) among the highlights, fans saw the former villain arrive to save the day.
Titled Lockdown, the 17th episode of the new year picks up where the second part ended. Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) survived attacks by Commonwealth soldiers led by Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton) with the help of Negan and Annie (Medina Senghore) and plan an onslaught against the villain.
As the former leader of the Saviors has never been seen by Commonwealth residents, Daryl suggests he infiltrate the giant community to seek help from Carol (Melissa McBride) and Mercer (Michael James Shaw). Meanwhile, the heartthrob, Maggie and the others study how to corner Hornsby outside.
In order to infiltrate the community, which faces an uprising from the population over the actions of Sebastian Milton (Teo Rapp-Olsson) that caused the death of several residents, Negan manages to convince Mercer that he is an ally. After entering the city, he enlists the help of Jerry (Cooper Andrews) to meet with Carol, who was preoccupied with hiding the children from Hornsby’s undercover allies.
To contain the population’s revolt, Mayor Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) takes advantage of the threat of a giant horde of zombies approaching the city to establish a lockdown. With no residents crowding the street, she lessens the pressure by hunting Sebastian, who remains hidden without anyone knowing his true location.

Alongside Negan, Carol uses a map of the city to go looking for Pamela’s son. With Jerry hiding the kids, the duo infiltrate City Hall and tear apart every corner of the building, until the veteran finally finds a hidden door that leads to a secret room. There the two find Sebastian and are ready to take him to his mother without the population seeing them.
The way to take the spoiled young man to the mayor goes through revolt in the middle of lockdown. After saving Daryl’s group and infiltrating the Commonwealth to help Carol with Sebastian, Negan sacrifices himself to prevent the citizens from getting their hands on the boy. Carol escapes, but the former villain succumbs to the soldiers and is left with an uncertain fate.
After convincing the boy that she could help him, Carol takes him to meet Pamela, who attacks him for the shame she has put her through. Negan’s partner then reveals her plan: if the mayor helps her friends and escape Horsnby’s clutches, she will help her frame him for the deaths that were Sebastian’s responsibility.
Cornered on The Walking Dead
In front of the episode that shows the events outside the Commonwealth, Daryl leads the group to try to evade Hornsby’s soldiers. Increasingly cornered, they decide to escape through the sewer to orchestrate a surprise attack against the villain.
By luring the soldiers deep into the abandoned towns on the outskirts of the community, the good guys carry out the attack and manage to take Hornsby hostage. Problem is, the villain has summoned even more soldiers to face Daryl, Maggie, Aaron, Gabriel and Annie, and the two groups find themselves at a crossroads on the brink of chaos.
Whether Daryl will turn himself in to the villain and whether Pamela will accept Carol’s proposal, fans will only find out in next Sunday’s episode (9). Star+ exclusively shows the 11th season of The Walking Dead in Brazil.
