The Oscar nominee talks about how she raised Valerie and a little bit of what fans can expect. “Fortunately, I had a good amount of time to prepare for Valerie, much more time than I had to prepare for a character. It wasn’t just the fact that David was so collaborative, where he wanted to talk about Valerie and the movie in general, years before we made the movie, but the fact that production was put on hold due to the COVID pandemic.”

She continues: “So I had a lot of time to prepare for Valerie, maybe a little too much, to be honest. I started doing a lot of Valerie’s art, at home, in lockdown, and it started to get really weird.”

Robbie describes her character as: “She’s cute and artistic and crazy.”

And in another particular moment of the event, the actress comments on the art objects she made: “There came a point when my husband came in, and I had bits of metal and fake blood (…) and I had all this crazy stuff. And he said: “I think you’re taking this character too far. You need to calm down a little.” and I was like: Okay.”

Robbie says: “I fell in love with her, she really has a rhythm of her own. The friendship pact she makes with Harold and Burt is everything to her. David and I talk a lot. I have a trio of friends very similar to this one. We ironically all met in Belgium [os do filme em Amsterdã, na Holanda].

And completes: “I think that let us deliver a lot of authenticity to the cameras.”
