Alexi Portela is no longer president of the Northeast League. In an extraordinary general meeting held this Friday (4), in Fortaleza (CE), the leader resigned from his position.
Due to complaints of lack of transparency (remember here), Alexi even asked for a leave of absence from the presidency of the Liga do Nordeste, but that was not enough to calm the spirits of the representatives of the clubs. The tranquility came after the resignation request.
Many club presidents were perplexed to discover the sale of advertising marketing rights to LiveMode in the amount of R$12 million per year for a period of five years, made in the last month of May, and the projection is to raise more than R$ $30 million in 2023 alone. Other points also weakened Portela’s management, such as lack of transparency in the execution of contracts, lack of accountability, non-detailed expenses and bureaucracy even to make the statute available. The regiment was only discovered after a “pilgrimage” in the registry offices of the nine states of the Northeast. The document is registered in a notary office in Salvador.
With Alexi’s resignation, Constantino Júnior, executive director of the Northeast League, assumes the interim presidency. He has up to 60 days to call new elections.
