Rodinei had the best season of his career in 2022. The right-back was one of the highlights of Flamengo that won the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brasil. Valued for his good moment, the 30-year-old player is very coveted in the football market. As the contract with Rubro-Negro ends at the end of next month, Rodinei can now sign with any other club, without the team from Rio de Janeiro receiving any financial compensation. Atlético-MG and Grêmio were two of the clubs that made an offer for Flamengo’s side.
On the Rooster side, the negotiation is already closed. The club from Minas Gerais looked for Rodinei even before the end of the season. The contact was made by Atlético’s director of football, Rodrigo Caetano, who worked with the winger at Flamengo itself and, later, at Internacional.
“We tried contacting Rodinei, yes, but we didn’t make it. We’re always on the lookout for good players. Rodinei had a great championship. Every good player interests us”, revealed Ricardo Guimarães, who is one of Atlético’s patrons, in an interview The Rádio Itatiaia🇧🇷
According to the investigation of UOL Sport, the reason for the withdrawal of the Rooster is the salary requested by the player. The value was considered too high by the alvinegra board.
With Atlético out of the way, Grêmio is a strong candidate to hire Rodinei, as the UOL🇧🇷 The player was requested by Renato Gaúcho, who recently agreed to renew with Tricolor. The coach commanded Rodinei at Flamengo, in the 2021 season, when they were runners-up in Brasileirão and Libertadores.
Back in Série A in 2023, Grêmio is willing to pay what the athlete wants. One of Renato’s requests is the reformulation of the cast that gained access to Série B.
