Lula asks for the use of green and yellow in the cup

The president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), called on the population to wear the colors green and yellow to support the Brazilian team during the World Cup games in Qatar. Brazil debuted in the competition at 4 pm this Thursday (24), in a game against Serbia.

“Today begins the dispute for the sixth. Let’s wear our green and yellow shirt, wear it with great pride and follow the national team. Our shirt has the colors of our flag, which represents 215 million Brazilian men and women. Let’s cheer for Brazil together “, posted the PT on his Instagram profile.

Flag colors and the Brazilian national team shirt have been used by supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) since 2018.

Earlier this month, the president-elect had said that Brazilians should not be ashamed of wearing green and yellow to support the national team.

The statement came at a time when some fans were considering wearing other colors to support the national team. “The World Cup starts in a little while and we don’t have to be ashamed of wearing our green and yellow shirt,” said Lula.

The petista said he will wear the yellow shirt with the number 13, the same as his acronym on the ballot box.

“Green and yellow is not for a candidate, it is not for a party. Green and yellow are the colors for 213 million inhabitants who love this country. So you will see me with the green and yellow shirt, but mine will have the number 13 “, said.

Today, the future First Lady Rosângela da Silva published a photo wearing the selection’s shirt on her Twitter profile. She follows the games with Lula at the couple’s home in São Paulo. In Brasília, the vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), and the PT president, Gleisi Hoffmann, also wore clothes in the team’s colors.
