World Cup regulations prohibit “display of political messages by players and officials (referees and coaches)” edit
247 – Still during the election campaign, Neymar participated in a live with Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and promised to honor him if he scored a goal in the World Cup. However, an article in the newspaper O Globo explains that Neymar can be punished for the gesture.
“There is a ban on political demonstrations with the exception of defending human rights,” says the text.
Neymar had promised to make the number 22 with his hands, in allusion to the number of the then candidate for re-election.
Lawyer Eduardo Carlezzo, a specialist in sports law, claims that Neymar would be subject to disciplinary punishment if he paid homage.
“The display of political, religious or personal message or slogans of any nature or language or form by players and officials (referees and coaches) is prohibited”, says article 33 of the World Cup regulations, in its 3rd paragraph.
