In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ana de Armas responded to negative comments about blonde🇧🇷 She explained that even though she expected hurtful comments, she still feels surprised to witness it.

“There is no middle ground with the film, I feel. Some people just accept it and make the connection quickly. They see the photos, the cinematographic language, what we were trying to do with the images and reinterpreting this story. They understand, love and find Andrew [Dominik] incredible. And then there’s the other side that doesn’t really connect with that. And besides, they find it offensive. So it was expected, but still surprising to witness.”

blonde is not a biography about Marilyn Monroe, the film is an adaptation of a book by Joyce Carol Oates, which romanticizes the artist’s life. Many of the film’s complaints were the intense sexualization of the character.
