With two goals in Brazil’s debut in the 2022 Cup, Richarlison put his name in the history of the Brazilian national team in World Cups and became one of the fans’ darlings for good. Charismatic, with fun statements and a lot of football, the 25-year-old capixaba has everything to be successful in this World Cup.
Off the field Richarlison also takes advantage of his time to engage in social causes. He has already held charity games to collect food and hygiene and cleaning products for needy populations in his hometown, Nova Venécia. After winning the 2019 Copa América with the Brazilian national team, he was honored at the Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo and took the opportunity to ask for investments in education. HELP FOR STUDENTS
In 2019, students from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES) posted a request for help on social media: they had been selected to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiads, but needed to raise R$50,000 to pay for the trip. In the publication they marked several players and celebrities. Richarlison saw the message and got in touch with a cousin, a former IFES student, who explained the project to the player. The player then made a donation that helped fly the students to Taiwan to attend the event.
SALARY DONATION AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER
Since 2017 Richarlison helps Instituto Padre Roberto Lettieri, located in Barretos-SP, a support home for children fighting cancer, and their families. Many people go to the city in search of treatment at the Hospital do Amor, a reference in the area, but are unable to stay there, a service provided by the Institute helped by the attacker. Nowadays he allocates 10% of his salary for this purpose.
VACCINE SUPPORT
Right at the beginning of the pandemic, in April 2020, Richarlison became the first ambassador of USP Vida, created to fund research and university actions in the fight against covid-19 through donations. Throughout the pandemic, the attacker reinforced the importance of people protecting themselves and others, using their social networks to disseminate information. During the Copa America held in Brazil in July 2021, he wore a custom boot with reference to the USP Vida that later went up for auction and helped raise more than R$7,000 for the program. In the same year he posted a photo of himself getting vaccinated, while asking everyone to do the same.
