Director Rian Johnson revealed in an interview with Deadline that the third film in the “Knives Out” franchise is already in production.
Initially, the filmmaker would focus his time on other projects after the release of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out mystery”, but he confessed that his interest in a new challenge in the saga became a priority.
“Despite the deal to do two films in the franchise]with Netflix, I would be free to focus on another project if I felt like it. [antes de ‘Entre Facas e Segredos 3’]🇧🇷 I feel like everyone thought I was going to start developing different projects, but over the past few months, ‘Knives Out 3’ has been the most interesting project for me.”

He completes by saying: “I’m going to focus on it right after the second film comes out. Not out of a contractual obligation, but because I’m genuinely interested in developing this sequel. I like the idea of figuring out how to do something completely different from the previous films.”
The caveat is that the second film, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”, will be released by Netflix on December 23.

It is worth mentioning that the Netflix platform disbursed more than US$ 400 million to acquire the rights to produce the sequels to “Entre Facas e Segredos”, which was one of the pleasant surprises of 2019, earning several nominations and awards on the festival circuit and setting the stage for a new universe of mystery.
The sequels will bring back screenwriter and director Rian Johnson. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and became one of the most requested works of the last year. With a budget of US$ 400 million, the film grossed more than US$ 300 million worldwide.
The film tells the story of a group of relatives who gather to celebrate the birthday of their patriarch (Christopher Plummer). At the party, the patriarch dies in an enigmatic way and a detective begins his investigation. Meanwhile, all possible suspects are under house arrest, and naturally, chaos ensues. Daniel Craig and Lakeith Stanfield play the detectives who must solve the murder. The cast completes Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, Katherine Langford, Michael Shannon, between others.
