Corinthians prepares the pre-season planning between the board and the technical commission – not yet fully defined – with an eye on arrivals and departures. Last week, the club received a poll from Júnior Barranquilla by Colombian midfielder Víctor Cantillo.
According to the investigation of my helm, the club was asked by Cantillo’s former team to repatriate the midfielder. Aware of the interest, Corinthians stipulated a price of 3.5 million dollars (R$ 18.9 million) for the sale of the rights to the 29-year-old player.
Negotiations are at an early stage, with no official proposals. The board, however, sees the athlete as negotiable at the turn of the year window and takes into account the possibility of opening another foreign vacancy with this possible departure.
The midfielder played for three seasons at Junior Barranquilla between 2017 and 2019, when he was twice elected among the selection of best players in the Libertadores group stage. The outstanding period drew the attention of the South American market until he was hired by Corinthians in 2020, aged 26.
Cantillo experienced different moments, without consistency in the 2022 season, as had been the keynote of the years he was at the club. The player was chosen by Fiel as the man of the field in July, in the victory against Coritiba. In the duel against Boca Juniors, in La Bombonera, the number 24 shirt was among the most praised on social networks.
Little by little, he lost ground with the Portuguese coach. When asked, Vítor Pereira even publicly demanded greater dedication and intensity from the foreigner in training and matches.
The Colombian arrived at the club at the request of coach Tiago Nunes, who had faced the player in charge of Athetico-PR, against Barranquilla. In three seasons, the midfielder was only the sixth foreigner to reach the mark of 100 games with the Corinthians shirt.
