Alternative Scream 4 opening is much better than the official one

if Wes Craven had followed his instincts, Scream 4 it could have had an opening that would have been a little less disliked by fans.

The film was not appreciated at the time and its low result at the box office canceled plans for a new trilogy. Its opening leans heavily towards humor, abusing the use of self-references, which for some people takes away the scary character that an opening scene of Panic deserve.

In a scene reminiscent of the original film, two teenagers are killed, played by the actresses. Shenae Grimes and Lucy Hale🇧🇷 Everything was actually the opening of Stab 6who in turn is being watched by Rachel (Anna Paquin) and Chloe (Kristen Bell). Chloe stabs her friend, and the scene is revealed to be the opening of Stab 7who is being watched by Marnie (Britt Robertson) and jenny (Aimee Teegarden).

The opening is confusing even to explain, and the ‘film within a film within a film’ joke did not have the desired effect on audiences by the production.

Originally, the opening was much simpler and would likely be more what viewers expected.

Does humor spoil the scene’s tension?

Included among the deleted scenes, the original opening had no movie-within-a-movie, and already opened with Marnie and Jenny, who play pranks on each other by pretending to be attacked by a murderer.

Marnie goes to get a snack from the kitchen and sees Jenny attacked and then killed too, before a long and tense chase scene. See the full scene here:

Although it is much shorter, the alternative opening doesn’t beat around the bush and therefore the death of the two girls is seen with much more brutality.
