Actress Ellen Pompeo said goodbye on Thursday (17) to Grey’s Anatomy, the series that made her famous. Pompeo plays the protagonist, Meredith Grey. “I am forever grateful for your love and support, and for Meredith Gray and the show’s 19 seasons,” she wrote on Instagram, adding that she would return “for visits.”
Pompeo joked about the cast’s various departures over those years. “This is not your first time on this roller coaster. You know the show must go on and I will definitely be back to visit,” she said.
Meredith will not die on the show. The character must accept a job in another city, leaving open the possibility of returning to special participation whenever she wants.
Grey’s Anatomy was released in 2005, created by writer and producer Shonda Rhimes. The audience success follows the story of doctors at a hospital in Seattle, USA, with a lot of romance.
Until entering the series, Pompeo had a short career and without much expression. On Grey’s Anatomy, the actress also became an executive producer and was more involved. Now, she has already signed a contract with the streaming company Hulu and is set to star in and produce a new series.
Grey’s is in its 19th season, which already has a smaller participation of the actress.
