In the middle of this month Microsoft temporarily stopped an update to the Windows 11 (2H22) due to some performance issues that some users have experienced in games, such as jittery frame rates and lag. Finally, the Redmond giant seems to have reached a resolution to correct the problem. The company announced a cumulative update (KB5020044) for the system that fixes the issues.
Microsoft explained that the performance issue was occasional because certain games and other apps inadvertently enabled functions related to GPU debugging. Remembering that the KB5020044 preview update is optional. Unless you’re using a Windows Insider build, you’ll need to download it manually. Go to “settings”, Windows Update and click “check for updates” to download and install. You can also find the update in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

In addition to fixing the game-related issue, this update contains other fixes and updates, such as storage notifications to Microsoft OneDrive subscribers on the Systems page in the Settings app. “Alerts appear when you are close to your storage limit. You can also manage your storage and purchase additional storage if needed,” explains Microsoft.
