Argentina and Holland will face each other for the 6th time in World Cups – 03/12/2022

In 1974, in the first duel between the two teams in World Cups, the Netherlands ran over Argentina in the group stage, winning by 4 x 0, with a show by Cruiyff, who scored two goals. In the following World Cup, Argentina gave the change and beat Clockwork Orange by 4 x 2, in the final of the World Cup, at home, to win its first Cup.

In 1998, the Netherlands beat Argentina again and won 2-1 in the quarter-final duel, with goals from Kluivert and Bergkamp (at 44 minutes of the second half). Claudio López scored the Argentine goal in the first half. In 2010, the two teams drew 0-0 in the group stage of the World Cup in South Africa, with Messi as the starter in the Argentine attack.

In 2014, in Brazil, Argentina and Holland tied again by 0 x 0, at Neo Química Arena, in the semifinal. After a 0-0 draw also in overtime, the match was defined on penalties, with Argentina winning 4-2. Of the players in the 2022 Cup, Messi was the only one on the field in that match. Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal, who left that Cup undefeated, is again in charge of his national team.
