The former Benfica striker was left blank in the three games he played for “Celeste”.
Uruguay beat Ghana 2-0 on Friday, in the last round of Group H, but were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup.
A day after the elimination, Darwin Núnez, the Liverpool striker who missed out on the three games he played in the group stage (against South Korea, Portugal and Ghana), apologized to the people of Uruguay.
“We didn’t deserve this final but the dream ended. I apologize to all the Uruguayan people”, was the message of the former Benfica striker on Twitter.
