Russian Football Union suspends ex-Corinthians for six games after widespread brawl

This Friday, the Russian Football Union (RFS) announced the punishments resulting from the fight that took place in the confrontation between Zenit and Spartak Moscow, in the league cup. Malcom, ex-Corinthians, and the other five athletes who had been expelled were suspended for six games.

Both teams are rivals in the European country and faced each other for the sixth round of the knockout tournament. Like all derbies, the match was heated and at the end of the regulation stage some players fell out and started a general beating. In this confusion, Malcom, Rodrigão, Wilmar Barrios were expelled by the Zenit side. As for Spartak, Sobolev, Selikhov and Nicholson were taken off the field.

Despite this, Zenit won the classic. During penalties, Ivangoalkeeper on loan from Timão, shone, saving two free kicks and ensuring the team’s triumph.

Thus, the former Corinthians player is left out of important matches for the team’s intentions in the season, losing classics against CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow. However, the punishment will only be carried out in March 2023. This is because now the Russian Championship is paralyzed due to the winter, which reaches -40ºC and makes football impractical in the country, and it only happens again after the turn of the year .

Currently, Zenit leads the national league, with 42 points, six more than Spartak Moscow, which is in second place. The Russian team has a legion of Brazilians, with a total of seven in its squad. Of these, four are former Corinthians: malcom🇧🇷 claudinho🇧🇷 mantuan and Ivan – the last two were involved in the negotiation for the arrival of Yuri Alberto.

Malcom Oliveira is a child of the base categories of the Parque São Jorge club. For Timão, the right winger played 54 games, scored seven goals and provided five assists. This performance was fundamental in winning the 2015 Brazilian Championship.
