Hollywood has never been shy about replicating the same stories over and over again, and in the case of true crime stories, sometimes it gets repeated even more.
This was the case when there were two projects advancing at the same time on the founder of Theranosthe controversy Elizabeth Holmes🇧🇷 The first of these projects starred Amanda Seyfried in the lead role and reached the Star+ as The Dropout🇧🇷
The second now faces an unexpected turn of events, as her lead has just revealed that she is pulling out of the project. Speaking to The New York Times, Jennifer Lawrence said it was after seeing The Dropout that she decided to give up starring in the film about the same plot.
“I thought she was great”Lawrence told the site. “I was like, ‘Yeah, we don’t need to redo this story, it’s already done really well.🇧🇷
The film is based on the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes, who built a multi-billion dollar biotech company before it all fell apart when Holmes was finally revealed to be a fraud, as described in the book by John Carreyrou🇧🇷 Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup.
For his portrayal of Holmes in The Dropoutwhich aired in March and April 2022 and also told the story of her rise and fall, Seyfried won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology or Movie in September of that year.
The miniseries was nominated for four more Emmys, including writing, directing and Limited Series or Anthology. It is currently available on Star+🇧🇷
