Trump calls for US to cancel Constitution rules for alleged election fraud

WASHINGTON — Former President donald trump stated that the United States should abandon rules established by the country’s Constitution to return to discuss the results of the 2020 elections, won by Joe Biden, which Trump alleges, without evidence, was rigged. The former president’s comment was made in a publication on the social network Truth Social on Saturday the 3rd and was condemned by leaders of the Republican party It’s from Democratic Party🇧🇷

“A fraud of this type and magnitude permits the breach of all rules, regulations and articles, including those of the Constitution,” Trump wrote on the social network, quickly becoming the target of criticism from political rivals and former allies.

The White House immediately condemned the comments. “The American Constitution is a sacrosanct document that has guaranteed for 200 years that liberty and the rule of law will prevail in our beautiful country,” Executive Spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement on Saturday.

“Attacking the Constitution and everything it stands for is anathema to the soul of our country and must be condemned,” he added. “You cannot love America only when you win.”

On Sunday, 4, legislators from both parties condemned the comment of the former president, who recently announced that he would run in the 2024 presidential elections.

“Last week he had dinner with anti-Semites. Now he calls for the end of constitutional democracy in the United States,” tweeted the leader of the Senate Democrats, Chuck Schumer🇧🇷 in reference to the dinner at Donald Trump’s Florida residence that Nick Fuentes, a white supremacist and prominent denialist, attended.

Trump “is out of control and is a danger to our democracy. Everyone must condemn this attack on our democracy,” added Schumer.

Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, also showed discomfort with the former boss’s suggestion. “No American conservative can agree with Donald Trump’s call to suspend the Constitution because of the 2020 election results. And all true conservatives should oppose his campaign for the 2024 presidential election,” he tweeted.

Asked about Trump’s comment, the former vice president Mike Pencewho has distanced himself from the tycoon since the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, avoided direct condemnation, but claimed that the former ally’s stance was a strategic error.

“Candidates who focused on the past, particularly those intent on challenging the last election, did not do well in the midterm elections,” he said in an interview with Fox News./ AFP
