AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series will have models with 16, 12 and 8 cores

Announcement should happen during CES 2023 in January

AMD should complement the lineup of Ryzen 7000 CPUs with three SKUs powered by Zen 4 3D V-Cache technology, according to the Korean website QuasarZone. These processors will 16, 12 and 8 cores and consumption around 170 W for the three models.

The information contradicts previous rumors, which pointed to SKUs with Zen 4 3D V-Cache technology with up to 8 cores at most. All new processors will have frequencies around 5.7 GHza value similar to the already released Ryzen 7000 SKUs.

So far, leakers and the Korean website claim that the new SKUs will be: Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 16 cores, Ryzen 9 7900X3D with 12 cores and Ryzen 7 with 8 coreswhich can be either a Ryzen 7 7700X3D or a Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

The high-end CPU with Zen 4 3D technology must be equipped with 192 MB of L3 cachetwice as much as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the only SKU with the technology so far, offers.

The 170 W TDP indicated by the leakers would be considerably higher than the consumption of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D (105 W). It would also be the same increase compared to the Ryzen 7 7700X, should it be one of the Ryzen 7 SKUs chosen to make up the rumored trio of Ryzen 7000 processors with cache stacking technology.

3D V-Cache technology

3D V-Cache enables larger amounts of cache in the same processor area. It consists of stacking a new silicon with large amounts of memory on the processor die, communicating with the processor cores through Hybrid Bond, a TSV (through-silicon via) connectivity. with high density of contact points.

The result is that this stacking makes possible very large amounts of L3 cache, with high bandwidth and very low latency across processor cores. With so much space, it also increases the number of times that data that the processor needed to still be available in the cache, and consequently, more performance.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D was once considered the best processor for gaming, beating even competing CPUs like the Intel Core i9-12900K and i7-12900K in some scenarios, which also deliver great results in games.
