Check out the percentage of Brazilians who use digital wallets and how the number is significantly higher than that of Americans.
The survey was released by the company Blackhawk Network Brasil, which operates in the area of payment solutions, such as gift cards, for example. The disclosure took place last Monday (5), claiming that the popularity of digital wallets here in Brazil surpasses even the United States.
In March of this year, approximately 4,000 people were interviewed by the survey, revealing that 96% of the Brazilian population had already used gift cards – gift cards – on their smartphones. In comparison, only 72% of Americans surveyed used the method.
“The shift to digital arrived due to the pandemic, but it is not fleeting. Today, face-to-face activities have returned, but our survey shows that 55% of Brazilians prefer to shop using hybrid or fully digital methods,” said Fernanda Carbonari, Managing Director of Blackhawk Network Brasil.
In addition, information about gift card marketing helps reinforce the new trend. In 2019, gift cards accounted for 20% of Blackhawk Network Brasil’s total sales. Currently, the value is already at 59%, with protagonism in purchases made by the so-called generation Z – the first to be born in an already fully digital environment.
What are gift cards?
Gift cards are codes sold by various digital commerce, bank and retail marketplaces throughout Brazil, which offer amounts to be spent on services and products such as Uber, Playstation, Xbox, Netflix, iFood, among many others.
Finally, according to those responsible for the research, data on digital wallets bring even more prominence to the new trend brought about by the pandemic, but which is not restricted to that moment. As you can see, the digitization process has been accelerated quite considerably.
