Anthony Davis is ruled out early in the game as Lakers lose to Cavs

The Lakers started this Tuesday’s match against the Cavs in a very competitive way, until they received news that would be crucial for the rest of the game.

Anthony Davis had to leave the game due to flu-like symptoms. Davis was ruled out with just under four minutes left in the first period. Manager Darvin Ham said Davis had been feeling unwell earlier in the day but wanted to try and play. Without their main player at the moment, the Lakers had to change their plans against a young and talented Cavs team.

After playing an even game until halftime, with the Lakers going to the locker room losing 57-49, the team came back strong in the third period. But in the final period, the Cavs entered decided that they would not suffer a defeat at home and took advantage of Davis’ absence to explore the Lakers’ paint and ended up winning the match by 116-102.

LeBron was the team’s leading scorer in Davis’ absence. He made 8 of his 17 shots and ended the night with 21 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.

In addition to LeBron, Schroder with 16, Bryant with 19 and Westbrook with 16, were the others who had double digits in points last night.

Unlike the other games, Loonie Walker didn’t do very well. He made just 3-of-10 shots and missed all five of his three-point attempts, scoring just seven points and contributing three assists.

Westbrook helped keep the Lakers in the game with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, but it wasn’t brilliant. He only had three assists and four turnovers.

The Lakers now play the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, and if Davis can’t be on the court, coach Darvin Ham will need to think of a new strategy if he wants to leave Canada with a win.
