Lionsgate released the official trailer for “alice, darling“, a psychological thriller directed by British filmmaker Mary Nighy, starring Anna Kendrick and Charlie Carrick, a duo who is joined in the main cast by Wumni Mosaku and Kaniehtiio Horn.
The film’s plot revolves around Alice (Kendrick), a woman pushed to the limit by her psychologically abusive boyfriend, Simon (Carrick). While on vacation with two close friends, Alice rediscovers the essence of herself and gains much-needed perspective. Slowly, she begins to erode the bonds of codependency that bind her. But Simon’s revenge is as inevitable as it is devastating, and once unleashed, it tests Alice’s strength, her courage and the bonds of her deep friendships.
The film, which made its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, has since screened at several other international festivals in Canada and the US to positive reviews. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently sits at an 89% rating.
