Also according to what has been released so far, WhatsApp avatars will receive continuous updates, including more customization options. This includes, for example, different types of shading and hair textures. So, if the avatar you create today is not 100% to your liking, you can modify it later.

You can choose traits like your character’s skin color, hair type, clothes, and facial features. WhatsApp avatars are the same as those used on Facebook – a company that is also owned by Zuckerberg -, so it is possible that, in the future, the dolls created in the apps will be integrated. However, for now, there is still no official information about it.

As for the sticker packs, Meta explained that they will be made automatically by the app and seek to reflect “various emotions and different actions”. For that reason, they would be a quick way to “share feelings” on WhatsApp in a more personalized way.

Before the official launch in the application, in order to use an avatar on WhatsApp, it was necessary to resort to third-party methods. One of them was the Memojis of the iPhone (iOS), a native feature of Apple’s operating system and which was launched in 2019, with iOS 13. Users of Android phones needed to use some external applications for this – such as BitMoji, for example .

1. To make a WhatsApp avatar, you first need to make sure your phone is up to date. To do this, go to your cell phone’s app store – Google Play Store for Android, and App Store for iPhone – and, in the search tab, type “WhatsApp”;
2. When the app appears in the search, check to see if there are any buttons saying “Update” and/or “Update Pending”. If yes, tap on it and wait;
3. After the update, go to WhatsApp and open the Settings menu. On Android, it can be accessed by the three dots icon at the top right of the screen. On the iPhone, just tap the tool icon in the right corner;
4. If your cell phone has already received the news, in the Settings menu, the “Avatar” option will appear. Tap on it;
5. Then, go to “Create avatar” and follow the steps indicated by the application to assemble your avatar.

If you want, you can also use the avatar as a profile picture. To do this, go to the settings (bottom right of the screen on the iPhone, and top right on Android, in the three-dot menu), tap on your photo and then go to “Edit”. Then, just select the “Use avatar” option.

Also, if you get tired of your avatar and don’t want to have it anymore, you can quickly delete it from the app. Just open the application, go to the settings menu and then look for the Avatar area. There, go to “Delete avatar” and confirm the deletion by tapping “Delete” again. It is worth remembering that, if you do this, if you want a stick figure on WhatsApp again, you will have to redo it, following the previous instructions.
