Jamaican Anaya Peterson tattooed the whites of her eyes in blue and purple and often gets body modifications.
the law student Anaya Petersonwho was born in Jamaica and lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is at risk of losing her sight after getting a tattoo on her eyeball.
In July 2020, she tattooed her right eyeball blue and, even though she was dealing with headaches and dry eyes while healing, she decided to paint her left eye purple in December of the same year.
The 32-year-old said she can no longer distinguish faces and has trouble reading.
The Jamaican is used to body modifications, such as tongue splitting and tattoos, and shares her health status through TikTok.
In a publication, Anaya showed a medical report that stated that she “has developed an eye disease that threatens vision, associated with fluids that affect the central part of it”.
The inflammations started in August last year, when the eyelids became swollen. The elevation continued to get worse until she decided to go to a hospital emergency room, take antibiotics and apply medication directly to her eyes for three days.
“Untreated ocular inflammation can lead to blindness due to high pressure in the eyes,” added the report. This can all cause a condition known as glaucoma.
According to the student, the fluids located in the back of her eyes already make it difficult for her to read or recognize faces accurately.
The woman also said that an ophthalmologist suspected that these changes in her body caused inflammation in her skin and triggered a generalized reaction, which affected the eyes.
