One of the leading names in contemporary music, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift will debut as director and screenwriter feature films coming soon. The production will be from Searchlight Pictures, responsible for Oscar-winning works such as “Nomadland”, “Black Swan” and “Slumdog Millionaire”.
Despite the announcement of the project, there are no details about the plot or dates. The artist has been dedicating herself to exploring the audiovisual language, standing out for directing the short film “All Too Well: The Short Film”which is even eligible for next year’s Oscar in the format category.

In promoting the homonymous music video, the artist even listed some films that were references for the clip. Among them, the separation dramas “Kramer vs. Kramer” (1979), with Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman and “Marriage Story”, with Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver; in addition to the features “The Souvenir” (2019) and “The Souvenir: Part II”, by the British Joanna Hogg.
At the toronto festival this year, the artist spoke about the desire to explore the cinematographic language and that the next step after the smaller works “would be to commit to making a film”. As an actress, Taylor made small appearances in films such as “Cats” and “Amsterdam.
